I said YES TO THE DRESS!

How I Found my dream wedding dress...or how it found me!

In my latest blog post I said “I’m so ready to find my wedding dress, Thee dress because, hunnie, I know I am going to look GOOD!” and let me tell ya’ll something...I found my dress! Thee dress!

I’m so excited, I just had to share how and why I said yes to the dress. On November 30th I stopped by Liza Ray NYC not really expecting to find my dress, because everything before that was very disappointing and it’s technically still early in the process. Whew, but on December 1st I bought the last dress I tried on that day and here’s how it all went down.

When I got to Liza Ray’s salon the first thing I noticed was how intimate the setting was and I fell in love instantly. The space is beautifully curated and Prin, the lovely young lady who works there, made my two best friends and I feel comfortable as soon as we walked in. My favorite part was that I was the only bride in the salon, and with me not wanting to be around too many people, it was the perfect setting.

I went in knowing the exact type of dress I wanted but I was also open to trying different things. I told Prin I wanted a dress that had “XY&Z” and she picked out 6 dresses for me to try on. The very first dress she pulled wasn’t really my style but it had the main details I wanted in a dress, and because I was being open to new ideas I didn’t ask her to put it back. And you know what? THAT WAS THE DRESS I CHOSE! The dress that I probably wouldn’t have looked twice at any other time is the dress that stole my heart.

It was the very last of the 6 dresses I tried on that evening and it fit me perfectly. I walked out the dressing room and my two friends looked at me and, in unison, said “Oh Wooooooooow” as their eyes lit up simultaneously. I thought, well that’s a good sign lol And when I looked in the mirror I said the same thing “Oh wooooow” as my fingers traced the pattern and the beautiful details of the dress.

I still didn’t want to think it was my dress though because I thought it might be crazy to buy a dress so soon, y’know? But I looked in the mirror and pictured myself walking down the aisle to Ty. Me standing next to him as his wife, in that dress, and I started BAWLING. I just couldn’t stop crying because it hit me that I was standing there in MY DRESS. This is the dress I’ll be wearing when I vow to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life. I didn’t want to take it off! I knew I probably wouldn’t have to look any further but I wanted to show it to my mother and sisters to get their opinion.

Say yes to the dress.

When I showed them the dress that night, they were in love. I told them about the custom changes I would make to it and they loved it even more. I decided that I wanted to pray over the decision so I did so that night and when I woke up the next day it was all I could think about. I spoke to my mother about it again and she saw how much I loved it and I saw her eyes sparkling as she told me she’d buy it. I called Liza that evening and told her that I wanted to buy the dress, confirmed with her and the designers that my custom changes could be made and my mother paid for it online.

My dress is being made in the Ukraine so I told them not to start production until March 2021, just in case my body changes a bit. And do you want to know the BEST part, I was able to get the wedding dress of my dreams 40% off the original price.

I have looked at photos of that dress everyday since I first tried it on and even went back to Liza Ray a second time to try it on again. I am so excited for our wedding day and for Ty to see the dress I chose. I just know he’s going to love it as much as I do.

Below is a visual vlog of my second visit to Liza Ray NYC.
