“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-5
“Love is”. I think those two words have a lot of weight on them because no one has the same answer. Every relationship is different, so it’s whatever you want it to be. However, I personally think that if it is covered in the same context as the beautiful verses above then that love is divine.
Here are 7 (the number of completion) examples of what love is for me and mine.
1. Love is___randomly slow dancing in the living room with the love of your life to a song you both decided will be the “first dance” song at your wedding.
2. Love is___your partner staying up until 3am running a last minute scene your manager sent to you so you can be offbook for your audition that’s the next day.
3. Love is___giving your partner the very last cookie in the package because you know it’s their favorite.
4. Love is___your partner breaking said cookie in half so you can both enjoy the very last bites together.
5. Love is___your partner helping you file your taxes and PATIENTLY helping you navigate the new world of adulthood because they’ve been adulting longer than you have.
6. Love is___your partner having your favorite type of wine and snacky snacks at home waiting for you...just because.
7. Love is___cuddles of protection and gentle affirmations being recited in your ear after something doesn’t go your way.
*Bonus* Love is, sitting up with your partner late one night to discuss a disagreement you both had earlier. Listening to understand and acknowledging where you both went wrong so that you don't make that mistake again and no one goes to bed upset or holding onto any ill feelings. Instead, you'll go to bed with a deeper understanding of your partner and how they emotionally and mentally process things.
Love is more than a four letter word or cute cozy feeling. It's also a verb that can be translated a million different ways between a couple. Regardless of how we share it one thing for certain is that; Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
