My PERFECT Bridal Shower- Recap!

My Bridal Shower was far from traditional but it was one of the most beautiful “surprises” that I was actually expecting in my entire life. Lemme explain…

So for those of you who don’t know, I’m not having a bridal party and we all know that, traditionally speaking, the bridal party plans your bridal shower. Well, since that’s the case, I planned on throwing my own bridal shower. It was no big deal because I’ve never been married before so most wedding traditions aren’t very important to me. I’ve been doing a lot of things my own way and I’ve been loving it.

Moving on. I told one of my best friends, Emani aka Bit, that I was throwing my own shower and asked her if she’d like to help. I was only expecting her to maybe give me some ideas here and there and talk me off the occasional ledge. Well I was WRONG hunnie!

My girl told me that she was going to plan the whole thing herself. I forgot how it even came up but we were on the phone and she just straight up said “I want to plan it. Don’t worry” Now me being me I just thought she meant she was going to still help me plan it but do some extra stuff? Nope. My good sis told me that she was going to plan the whole thing and that she didn’t want me to lift a finger.

All she wanted was for me to send her my Bridal Shower Pinterest board filled with all my decor inspiration and make a list of who to invite. That’s it. And because I just can’t see someone doing something for me without volunteering to help she was always telling me, in the sweetest way, to mind my business lol So, that I did.

Along the way friends and family who would check in about wedding planning would ask me if there was anything they could do to help. I have the wedding planning down but I would let them know my friend is planning my shower and that they could help her with that. Bit wouldn't take help from me so God sent other people along the way. Don't you just love when things work out lol

My Bridal Shower had everything I wanted but that's not why I say it was perfect. It was perfect because of all the love, tender care and time that went into it. It was an act of love from everyone involved and that's what mattered the most. We could've been sitting down in an empty room with nothing but a carpet, some treats and and a few cups of tea just chatting and I would still feel the same way because the love of my family and friends would've been enough to fill up that room. So to everyone who played a special part in making my day so memorable and beautiful, THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart. I appreciate you all so much.

Now let's look at more photos!

I didn't go for the traditional white dress. I didn't see a white dress that I liked and when my stylist Moyenda showed me this dress! I knew I had to have it. It was all I could think about and it went perfect with my theme of brown and gold.

Sharing a laugh with my Mummy and one of my sisters. They don't fancy being on the internet so I won't be posting their photos out of respect.

My future husband! I can't wait to marry you! Thank you for coming by to take portraits of this beautiful day!

After the shower my fiancé took my to Birdland Jazz Club to listen to some live jazz and have dinner. Here are some portraits he took of me while there.
