Quarantine.

Updated: Oct 14, 2020

I’m in bed wide awake. A dim light from the slowly rising sun is starting to pour through the cracks in our curtains

The birds are outside.

Chirping.

They sound happy.

Maybe frantic?

Eh—normal.

My love lays next to me.

Every breath he takes makes me smile.

The sweetest melody.

The sweetest reminder that he’s here—with me.

The only sound to rival his comes in the form of a hiss from the heater.

Grateful to be warm.

Other than that? Quiet..

The quiet of an early morning has become one of my new favorite things to experience these days.

Though the world has stopped.

The chaos is loud.

I take in this peace.

This solitude.

Before I click into the world of social media.

Of the news outlets.

I take in THIS peace because the world is at war.

I need THIS mental solitude,

I talk to God

to prepare me for my day.

Of a new, temporary, normal.
