Wedding planning is underway ya’ll! Eeeep!
We’ve been engaged since October 2020 and if you remember, I shared in an earlier blog post that my anxiety was through the roof after our engagement. I was feeling like wedding planning had to be finished at that very moment. I was so overwhelmed I didn’t even want to plan something anymore. But now? Y'all I am feeling the complete opposite. I am so excited about planning this wedding and all the things to come! We have a Wedding Planner, Ms Christine, who has been such a blessing during this process. Lawd, I can’t get enough of her. We recently visited our church, where the ceremony will be, along with the studio of our potential florist and I just have to update you all on how it went.
And in true Manda Writes fashion there is a from that day at the end of this blog post.
Our Church
We’ll be having the wedding ceremony in our home church in Queens, NY. I’ve been planning my wedding in my head ever since I was a little girl so I’ve always had ideas about where I thought I’d say “I do”. Initially, we wanted the ceremony and the reception to take place in the same venue because of how convenient it would be. When we couldn’t find a venue that had both our style and budget, we didn’t even hesitate to think of our church.
Ty has always dreamt of getting married there. That’s the same church his maternal grandparents helped start, where they got married and where his parents got married and if that wasn’t enough it’s where we met! The fact that it wasn’t my first choice is beyond me. It’s also a gorgeous church that’s also very aesthetically pleasing.
During our visit we discussed how we'd like to decorate the church, where Ty and I would be standing and all the logistics that come with having a church wedding. We were also supposed to visit our reception venue, but we had to reschedule for another day so I’ll be writing about that in the next wedding update blog post.
Florist
The visit to the florist was nice and sweet. I searched high and low, on google, for NYC Florists but she came highly recommended by word of mouth so I stopped the internet search and decided to give her a try. This florist, in particular, was the same florist who did the floral arrangements for Ty’s older brother’s wedding some years ago. So I know her work and work ethic which made me very comfortable. We went over the original quote she sent me, and discussed exactly what Ty and I were looking for--going back and forth between what she had in her studio and what I have saved on my Pinterest board. You always want to see examples y’know. The meeting went great and we are definitely going to be working with her.
I’ve said this time and time again but I am so freaking excited! I am planning a whole wedding and not just any wedding, my wedding! I’m so excited to marry this man, have 15 babies with him and live happily-blackity ever after. Until then I’ll be stopping by here to give lots of wedding planning updates as we go along this beautiful journey. #AHuntSupreme
